Model and Simulation of a Floating Hybrid Wind and Current Turbines Integrated Generator System, Part I: Kinematics and Dynamics

This initial publication is part of a series publications that will appear soon, which pursue final objective for the proposal fully integrated and controlled hybrid system composed floating wind turbine—type “OC3-Hywind”—and two marine current turbines with aim increasing energy generated by installation and, at same time, use set as actuators an integral cooperative control to ensure structural stability generator (FHGS) in harsh weather conditions, key issue this type systems. A specially designed tool design, analyze, FHGSs was developed using Matlab®. In tool, named Floating Hybrid Generator Systems Simulator (FHYGSYS), several tests were carried out on considering interactive phase acting forces. Working programming environment like Matlab® allows design freedom possibility evaluating different geometries, aerodynamic airfoils, external meteorological also including or eliminating certain elements, etc. versatility be helpful future studies aimed maximizing production energy.
